Every fall NYU Gallatin does a main stage production. I was responsible for designing the pre-poster, main poster, plasma, and program. The show director had a couple of ideas about what she wanted based on the modernized rendition of the play:
- In the similar iconic style as those “Keep Calm” posters — a crown, two swords, ale pint, and an electric guitar — basically putting the iphone emojis into that “Keep Calm” style
- An image of a Brooklyn dive bar with a crown and swords sitting on the counter
The pre-poster design process went very smoothly, while the image treatment for the main poster went through several edits. The program went through many edits because of the complexity of working with the directors, actors, production staff, and events team to compile bios, headshots, opening notes, sponsorship information, etc.
